The old Posterogs data has a new home. I’ve imported 38,000+ posters, 30,000 subjects, 6,000 credits, and 6,400 venues from the old Posterogs database into gigposters on ctlgs/gigposters
What’s different?
The biggest change is the narrowed focus. The original Posterogs covered all kinds of posters — film posters, art prints, etc. Gigposters focuses specifically on concert and music-related posters: gig posters, tour posters, handbills, flyers, event promos, and band/artist posters. That is where most of the activity and interest was in the original site. Film Posters and Art Prints were excluded from the import — those may get their own catalogs someday.
The other addition is variant support. You can now link variant editions (foils, APs, color variants) to a master poster using the “Variant of” field, so they’re grouped together on the page instead of floating as separate unconnected entries.
How to contribute
If you had a Posterogs account, register on ctlgs.org and message @Burnett to get your old contributions and collection restored. From there you can edit existing entries or add new ones.
If you’re new, just create an account and start adding posters. The edit form should be familiar if you used the old site.
Everything is changeable
The data model, fields, categories — none of this is set in stone. If something about the schema doesn’t work for how you catalog posters, or if there’s a field we’re missing, bring it up. This is early days and the right time to shape things.
