Some of the authors I added manually seem now to have been duplicated. An example would be Eric Birley - books - ctlgs, and Eric Birley - books - ctlgs. The former now has no books connected. His son Robin Birley is another one, and there will be others as I was hammering through these adding books for the additions and correcting missing authors. Is there a way of finding these from your end, or do you want me to mark them in some way for deletion… such as changing the name to “delete” or “duplicate”?
Ok that’s fixed, and thanks for catching it. When I restored the missing authors, the script skipped editions someone had already corrected by hand but still imported the old author record, so my copy landed empty beside yours.
There were 299. 288 are gone. Eric Birley and Robin Birley are single entries again.
I didn’t go by name alone — two of the pairs turned out to be different people who happen to share a name. Where my copy had a photo or biography, I checked the old database for a book the two shared before treating them as the same person, and moved the content across before removing the duplicate.
Eleven are left, where the two records share no book. They’re harmless, and no need to mark anything.
Thanks for that… I’ll keep on with the book updating.
