Data entry problem creating repeated entries

I’ve just created the book Astrology: Science or Superstition? - Books - ctlgs . Because the same credit was new as an author, and as a copyright holder, it seems to have created two identical entries for H.J. Eysenck, and D.K.B. Nias. Not sure whether I’ve done something wrong.

Also, on looking at Eysenck I have found an entry already exists for Hans Eysenck, and I have another book here credited as Hans J. Eysenck, as well as this one entered as H.J. Eysenck. Is there some way of using something similar to the ANV on discogs to connect these variations?

No, you didn’t do anything wrong. This is a bug in the system, and I’ll get it corrected.

I think an ANV-like function is possible. I’ll look into it!

Ok this behavior is corrected now. If you create identical new credits, it will only create one.

Thanks. I will revisit, and move all the credits to the same version of the name.

I remember something similar happened with bookogs, and we subsequently recycled the duplicate credits by renaming them to something new.

I have started to mark the ones that I have generated, e.g.

E. L. Bentley (recycle) - Books - ctlgs

This just happened with Brandon Trenz:

Brandon Trenz - Books - ctlgs was created for the book, and Brandon Trenz - Books - ctlgs was created for the edition.

Did that happen after adding with the Book+Edition form?

edit: it appears this happened when you added Crampton book+edition at the same time. I’ll get this fixed.

Thanks. It also happened with artist Dave Felton; I am not sure how.

Ok, this should be working correctly now. When you use the Add Book+Edition form, adding the same new credit on both the book and the edition will not create double credits. Let me know if you notice a problem.
